Founded by industry veteran John Barnes and now run alongside his children, John, Liam, and Demi, Home Vision brings together generations of expertise in TV aerials, satellite installations, home security, and smart home connectivity.
The product of over 50 years of passion, precision, and family values, we’re on a mission to keep UK homes connected and protected both now and in the future.
Our story starts in the early 1970s, when founder John Barnes first began installing TV aerials across London and Croydon. Back then, he worked solo as an aerial rigger, navigating the rooftops of the capital with a ladder strapped to his van and a commitment to delivering clean, safe, professional installations.
Back then, there were no WiFi installations, no Satellite TV, and absolutely no Ring Doorbells, just a trusted service built on word-of-mouth and reliability.
And as that word spread and demand grew, so did John’s team.
As a result, he expanded his fleet, took on more engineers, and later acquired a respected Chelsea-based aerial firm. But it was never about building an empire for John; it was about building a business that treated customers and engineers right.
Eventually, John swapped the London skyline for the quieter fields of Surrey. From there, he began carefully building a network of trusted engineers across the country. And each and every one of them was handpicked not just for their technical skills, but for their integrity and customer care.
By the early 2000s, the world was changing in a big way. Advertising was shifting from paper directories to search engines, and trade businesses were under pressure to evolve. Thankfully, John’s eldest son, also named John, had a natural eye for digital and saw a path forward.
He developed Home Vision’s first dedicated online strategy, establishing a powerful presence across search platforms and enabling customers to find local services with a single click. That early shift helped Home Vision grow ahead of the curve. It also taught us how to balance the latest technology with the kind of service you’d expect from a family-run firm.
In 2017, John’s younger children, Liam and Demi, officially joined the business. However, their involvement started long before that. From helping out on weekends in the early noughties to learning the ropes around engineer depots and job bookings, they’ve been immersed in the business since the turn of the millennium.
And when they joined full-time, they brought a fresh perspective on brand building, service design, website development, and team leadership. As a result, they helped sharpen the Home Vision experience for modern customers, while protecting the values that have always made the company unique.
Together, the three siblings have shaped Home Vision into the nationwide, same-day provider it is today. From service development to customer support, they remain hands-on and involved in day-to-day decisions, with big plans for the future of the business.
As of today, Home Vision supports customers across the majority of the UK with over 130 engineers on call. But despite our reach, we still operate with the same personal touch that made us who we are. As such, every job matters, and every customer is valued. And perhaps most importantly, every home we visit is treated with care and respect.
